How do I get my man to buy me an Origami Owl gift locket without asking for one?
Looking for a way to hint that a custom locket from Origami Owl is what you want for Christmas, your birthday or Mother's Day? But you don't want to come right out and ask for it?
Don't rely on him to connect the dots without some serious help. 'Tis the season for hint dropping, so choose your approach wisely. While some boyfriends may require a brightly lit sign, others aren't into having everything explicitly spelled out. Here's a a few tips to help you get what you want through the power of suggestion:
1) Get your hands on an Origami Owl Take out menu (catalog) leave it on the counter with the items you like circled? The catalog even comes with boxes for you to check mark what you like.
2) Mention that your friend or co-worker got one and you loved how personalized it was. Be sure to include the details how every locket is different and such a special way to share a story.
3) Use hypotheticals: "If I were to build a locket, I would want the silver wedding ring charm to represent our love and marriage!" or "I would want the Tractor charm to remember my dad's love of the farm."
4) Use social media to share a cute locket or your favorite designer's web page.
5) Ask him what he wants. Being open and sharing ideas can lead to happier gift giving experiences!
6) Tell his best friend or mother. DO it on the sly and I bet they will find a way to hint that Origami Owl is a fantastic gift!
7) Write it on the bathroom mirror in lipstick...or for a subliminal message, write it after your shower using your finger. Then it may appear again when he takes his shower.
8) When all else fails, buy what you like, wrap it up and let your man know that you made it easy for him.
I can't believe I earned the Origami Owl Incentive trip! Here is how you can earn your company trips too!
One of the greatest things about the direct sales industry is the opportunity you have as a representative have to take a fabulous, all expense paid vacation every single year. It's commonly called an incentive trip, and you have the opportunity to earn it as you build and work your business. It's truly a win-win for you and your direct sales company!
The best time to start working on earning that trip is right away. Here is a 6-step plan for working consistently so that you're boarding a plane to take a well deserved, free, top of the line, vacation this year with the rest of the "top dogs" in your company.
Here are my top 6 steps for earning your company incentive trip.
1. Decide that you are going to earn the trip!
Make a conscious decision to work for the trip if half of the battle! If you just say, "Well, that would be nice." or "That will be a bonus if I do well." lets you subconsciously find reasons to not win the vacation.
2. Figure out Many New Designers/ team members you’ll need to sponsor
As you’re earning the trip, you’re growing a thriving business and getting rewarded for it. I always recommend that you shoot for more new team members than you actually need to earn your trip. That way, you have a built in safety net. Some incentive trips require a certain number of new recruits. For my Maui trip, I have to sponsor 4 new designers and they had to have $500PV in the contest period.
3. Draw out a map: Break it down in to a step by step plan Set a to-do list for each week or month on how many people you'll need to share the business with to likely sponsor the number of new team members you need. Do the same for booking parties or making sales. How much do you need to sell each week to hit the final goal? Usually breaking it down into smaller pieces makes you realize it is obtainable!
4. Mental Dream Board
Visualize at least once a day, preferably twice a day (right before you go to sleep at night and as soon as you wake up in the morning). Imagine what it will feel like to reach your vacation destination. Close your eyes and really feel the yourself there enjoying yourself.
5. Track & Reward your Progress
Reward yourself for each small victory as you work toward the trip. Decide up front what your reward will be for each to-do marker you check off. Here’s an example of some of the accomplishments you could reward yourself for:
*Made at least 5 phone calls to past customers this week. (One a day)
*Scheduled at least 1 party this week.
*Sponsored at least 1 new team member this month
6. Use the Incentive Trip to Earn the Incentive Trip
Your company has probably chosen a pretty cool destination for your trip (usually somewhere warm during the winter). You can use that as a great incentive to sponsor others who might be interested in joining you on your vacation!
* Put the incentive trip destination as well as a photo of the resort/cruise ship/etc. on your Facebook page.
* If you’re a leader, make it the norm on your team to earn the incentive trip every year.
Encourage Your Successline to earn the trip - When they do well, it will likley earn you more points too! Remember - these trips are a Win/Win!!!!
You have to lead by example. Make sure your team knows that you intend to earn the trip and you would love to be there right by your side! Use team incentives and events that are geared specifically toward the incentive trip like:
* Trip themed monthly team incentives
* Booking Blitz Nights
* Facebook training with team members across the US

Interesting history on Ponzi/Pyramid schemes!!!
Are you wondering if the business your friends want you to join is some sort of Pyramid scheme? Are you wondering if only the people on top make real money?
When it comes to the Direct Sales industry, one question that is very common is "is this a pyramid scheme?" Even if you are offering a well-known business opportunity you are likely to hear this from someone. You might even be curious about it as well.
In the early 1920s, Charles Ponzi, an Italian immigrant, invented the pyramid scheme. Back in those days, postage reply coupons were exchanged in foreign countries for stamps. And since some areas of the world had a struggling economy, a postal reply coupon had a varying exchange rate.
Ponzi found that if he purchased these postal coupons in poor economies, and exchanged them in America, he double, tripled, or quadrupled his money! He liked to brag, so soon friends and acquaintances wanted in on the deal.
Ponzi promised a 90 day 100% return on investment, meaning that whatever amount of money you invested in these coupons would be doubled in three months. Word spread. Those first few investors in the Ponzi game were making money hand over fist! Soon the whole country wanted in.
Ponzi was taking in over a MILLION DOLLARS A WEEK...in 1920! Business was booming. Ponzi was becoming a very wealthy man, and so were his investors. Everything would have been fine, except...
...he never really bought the postal reply coupons. You see, buying the coupons, exchanging the money, and sifting through bureaucratic red-tape was time consuming. Ponzi promised a quick ROI (Return on Investment). He didn't have time to actually buy the coupons.
So, he paid his investors with notes due from the pool of funds of the new investors. Eventually, a guy Ponzi hired to take care of public relations caught onto the scam, and exposed the scheme. In the end, 40,000 people were out $15,000,000...again, in 1920.
He was sentenced to jail, spent a couple years there, got out, tried a few more swindles, got caught, and so on. But he will go down in history as the inventor of the Ponzi Scheme aka Pyramid Scheme.
Then, what is a Pyramid Scheme?
A pyramid scheme is robbing Peter to pay Paul. It's an organization that profits not off a product or service, but off of the new addition of money/recruits to the group. Money flows up the pyramid, but nothing flows down.
Eventually, the money stops flowing up the pyramid. Either those at the bottom do not continue to bring more victims into the scheme, or the scheme is exposed as the illegal pyramid that it is. Either way, only the guys at the top made any money.
Companies that promote a product or service, are not pyramid. In MLM, money flows up the chain, and value (or product) flows down. Each participant receives a valuable, quality product in of itself. He/she would likely be purchasing the product, for the same amount of money, even if a business opportunity did not exist.
So why is MLM confused with a known illegal activity? People commonly mistake a legitimate direct sales opportunity with a pyramid scheme, because they are both shaped like a pyramid!
Now, before you smell a rat, realize that all companies are shaped like pyramids. You have the owner, or company president, at the top. He/she oversees a small, select group of CEOs or managers, who then oversee a larger group. At the bottom of the structure are the employees, who are the selling force to the customers.
WalMart is structured this way, Microsoft is structured this way, heck, even the US Government is structured this way! The shape of the direct sales company is the same.
At the top, is the company, who started off with a handful of distributors, who each enrolled a handful of distributors. It flows out, like a pyramid or fan, as it goes. But here is where a Direct sales/MLM company differs from typical corporate America and from its illegal counterpart: Each newly sponsored recruit is the tip of his own pyramid.
What does that mean? Unlike Walmart, a Direct Sales participant has the opportunity to earn the same amount of money, OR MORE, than the person who sponsored her. Each and every distributor in a direct sales company has the same resources, the same pay structure, and the same incentives.
I am happy to have found Direct Sales and love being a leader to my team. Nothing would make me happier then helping people surpass me in the business!
